Nevertheless, Google didn’t offer any further info regarding the software upgrade. Still, we need to mentioned that there are multiple machines that have not got the new update so far.
Among the Chromebooks we are talking about, we can include some built by manufacturers such as Samsung, Acer, Lenovo and ASUS. Apart from these, there is also a device made Google themselves, specifically Chromebook Pixel (2015), which is has not received the new update either.
Anyway, today’s news is about twp specific devices that, even though they have not been included by Google in the release notes, it appears that they can be updated and receive access to the Play Store. To be more specific, the machines in question are the ASUS C302 Chromebook Flip and the Dell Chromebook 3189. In case you are the owner of either of these Chromebooks, the update should install on it and after that you should be able to head to the Play Store and get your hands on your favorite apps.
The Asus C302 Flip in particular got the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update on the beta channel two months ago. It was made available for people who wanted to check it out and search for bugs and other types of flaws prior to rolling out to the stable channel.
You need to know that despite being an automatic operation, these kind of updates can take a few days until they reach the entire stock of devices. Nonetheless, you can always install the software manually by heading to the About Chrome OS section. From there, you only need to click on “Check for Updates”. In further news, other devices which have received the Nougat update on the beta channel will probably receive a similar treatment on the stable channel in the near future.
Apart from gaining access to Google Play Store, the apps from the play Store actually, there will be another benefit of this update as the laptops will have access to various important APIs. Also, the update will also come with the Resizable Windows function, which basically enables you to have control over the size of Android apps. It works similarly to how and browser is resized in ChromeOS.
