Make Chrome Your Default Windows 10 Browser

The recent release of Windows 10 made rounds on the Internet, especially due to the free upgrade that Microsoft offers to existing users. It is now easier than ever to upgrade to the latest version of Microsoft’s popular Operating System. However, if you are one of the people that recently made the jump (via the update) to the latest version of Windows, you may have noticed that your favorite browser (which is Chrome, otherwise you wouldn’t be here, right?) is not the default browser anymore. Unfortunately, that’s normal as Windows 10 changes the default browser, among other things.

This was a move that wasn’t very well received by Windows 10 users, and it’s not hard to imagine why, as nobody wants to be forced to use a browser that don’t want to use. Edge is the default browser of Windows 10 and it is the successor to Internet Explorer. It’s not hard to guess that not only users were bothered by this move, but browser devs too – one such dev is Mozilla who openly criticized Microsoft’s decision to make Edge the default browser for Windows 10, even for people updating. However, it is very easy to make your Chrome the default browser again. Read below how to make Chrome your default Windows 10 browser.

Step 1.

During the first step, you will have to go to the Settings menu. To do this, click on the Start menu and the select the Settings menu.

Step 2.

In the Settings menu you will see two rows of tiles; click on the System tile.

Step 3.

In the System menu, you will see a menu on the left with a few options displayed vertically. Select Default Apps the second to last option.

Step 4.

Now you will have to scroll until you see the ‘web browser’ option and then click on it

Step 5.

A menu will appear that will prompt you to choose a browser. Go ahead and select Google Chrome from the list of browsers. And that’s it.

Now Google Chrome will be your default browser. You can go ahead and test this by clicking a twitter link in some app. Chrome will be launch, directing you to the specific twitter link. Of course, if you still want to switch to Microsoft Edge you can still do so, though we have a feeling you will be happy to use Chrome. In any case, in order to make another browser your default browser, repeat the steps and choose that browser during the fifth step. We hope you found this article useful.
