Even though there have been a lot of leaks and rumors, when it comes to the new Pixelbook, we’re sure we’re going to see the best of it during Google’s Pixel launch event.

And since the Pixelbook is expected to be the star of the event, what we’ve learned so far might just be the tip of the iceberg, considering that there have been no official comments toward the leaked photos, prices or specifications that surfaced on the internet.

A new commit in the Chromium Repository suggests that the Pixelbook will have some exclusive features, and we can’t wait to see if this theory is true because it would be a game changer.

Exclusive Pixel features

It wouldn’t be the first time Google launched new services and features on its Pixel devices, making them available on other Android devices months later after being introduced to the audience. We can all remember how long it took to get Pixel Launcher and Google Assistant after being launched on Pixel and Pixel XL.

We did enjoy the Pixel look and feel, though, which offered a clean and neat Android operating system, much alike to the Nexus experience. Many of the fans of the Nexus program will be able to enjoy again this Android experience, with a few interesting new features.

Besides, not all the Pixel features launched with the Pixel and Pixel XL are pushed to the other Android phones. For instance, the Pixel Launcher app isn’t yet available although its features are public and available for a while now.

And of course, we are expecting for the Pixel camera to stay among the top players, considering the impressive software optimizations in the camera app and the device’s firmware.

In case you were wondering, no, not even a year later, nothing else can replicate Pixel’s camera performance. One of the reasons why is that the specific software was dedicated to Pixel and Google holds it back.

#madebyGoogle started a new trend and put Google on the route to establishing a reputation in the hardware manufacturing industry. Considering Google’s new direction, we are expecting to see more exclusive services and features for the Google hardware.

Pixelbook Exclusive Features

We’re not sure if the same pattern will apply on the Chromebooks. Although the different naming made some to believe that the new features and services introduced during the Pixel launch event will remain Pixelbook exclusive, we believe some of them will be integrated into Chrome OS as well. We will also keep you updated on when and how will the new features be distributed to the other Chromebooks.

Until we have all the answers regarding the Pixelbook, and more hard evidence to chew on, let’s go through the commit that hinted us on the new features.

TEST=lock screen note taking works on eve

It is obvious that Eve will have an app that will only be available for it: lockscreen apps. In this case, we believe ‘Eve’ to be the new Pixelbook.

We don’t know yet for which feature was this command set for, but we now know we should expect another new important feature or functionality, created exclusively for the Pixelbook.

While this isn’t new for Google, considering our recent experiences, we still believe that Google is getting ready for a paradigm switch and we can’t wait to see what they have prepared for us during Google’s Pixel launch event.
